Our Story: From Bright Beginnings to Bright Academy
Bright Academy was originally founded in 2013 as Bright Beginnings Academy by Mrs. Gina Englund, who continues to serve as our dedicated School Director. What began as a small group of students and teachers with a big vision quickly outgrew its first location. Today, we are proud to call 3590 Pleasant Valley Road our home.
Over the years, our program has grown in extraordinary ways—both in size and in impact. What started as a dream has become a life-changing educational experience for students with dyslexia. As our vision expanded and the success of our students became undeniable, we felt it was time for our name to reflect who we’ve become.
We are now Bright Academy—specializing in Bright Dyslexics. Our new name honors the strength, potential, and brilliance of the students we serve every day.

Testimonials
“I have truly enjoyed having my son attend Bright Academy. Time and time again, he shares how loved and supported he feels at school. He often talks about how the teachers understand his unique learning needs and genuinely want to help him succeed—not just academically, but as a whole child.
As a parent, I’ve never seen my son this excited about school or learning. He doesn’t want to be late, miss a day, or even leave early. Bright Academy has allowed me to witness a side of him I wasn’t sure I would ever see—his confidence, joy, and eagerness to learn have all flourished in this nurturing environment.
The love and support shown to both students and parents is nothing short of amazing and uplifting. I am especially grateful that my son is free to express his love for God openly. At just nine years old, he already understands that it is by God’s grace that he’s been given this opportunity—and he doesn’t have to hide that part of who he is.
We are beyond thankful to be part of the Bright Academy family, and we pray that many more families will be blessed with the same opportunity. Thank you to the entire staff for your dedication, your compassion, and the unwavering support you have shown to my son and our family. We are forever grateful.”
“Bright Academy has truly been an answer to our prayers! We always knew my nephew was bright and had an incredible memory, but he struggled with basic learning skills in a traditional school setting. That all changed when he came to Bright Academy.
The loving and supportive environment, combined with specialized teaching techniques, has been a complete game changer. His confidence and joy soared during his very first year. He is now thriving in a small classroom setting where individualized instruction and encouragement are the norm.
I’m especially grateful for the Christ-centered foundation that is nurtured at Bright Academy. Mrs. Gina and the entire staff see each child as a gift from God and take the time to know and support them personally. They recognize the unique brilliance in each student.
My heart is full every day when I see him walk out of school with a big smile, chatting and laughing with his classmates—a complete transformation from his previous school experience.
We are deeply thankful for the difference Bright Academy has made in our lives. May God continue to richly bless this school as they pour into the these students each and every day.”
“Bright Academy is truly the best school ever. The teachers are so helpful. They support you in reading, writing, math, science, and every other subject without just giving you the answers. They make sure you really understand so that in life you never fall behind. Thanks to them, kids with dyslexia like myself can stay on track and feel just as advanced as other students.
Mrs. Gina and all the staff are the kindest people I have ever met. Even though I had to move away, I will never forget them. Everyone at Bright Academy has a special place in my heart. Most of all, I thank them for helping me improve my reading and writing so much that I can now do homeschool and regular school without struggling or feeling left behind.
I am forever grateful to Bright Academy for everything they have done for me, and I thank them with my whole heart.”
More Testimonials
“As a mom who watched her daughter struggle so much with reading and writing, I cannot fully express my gratitude for Bright Academy. Before coming here, my daughter often felt discouraged and insecure because of her difficulties. It was heartbreaking to see her lose confidence in herself.
Everything changed once she joined Bright Academy. Over these three years, I have seen so many positive changes in her, not only academically but also emotionally. Today, my daughter is more secure and confident. She has discovered a genuine love for learning. She went from feeling defeated to asking me for new books because she now enjoys reading.
I will forever be grateful to Mrs. Gina, the founder and director of Bright Academy, and every single staff member. Their dedication, patience, and love have made all the difference in my daughter’s life.
For any parent who is considering Bright Academy, I want to tell you: do not hesitate. You will not regret it. Sending my daughter here was the best decision we have ever made as parents. Bright Academy did not just change her education; it changed her life.”
“Bright Academy has truly been an answered prayer for our family. When our daughter was diagnosed with Dyslexia and Auditory Processing Disorder in second grade, we began a difficult journey—one filled with advocates, private tutors, and summer reading programs. While these were valuable resources, none of them brought the progress we desperately hoped for. Instead, we watched her confidence and self-esteem slowly diminish.
Then we discovered Bright Academy.
From the moment she stepped through their doors, everything changed. Bright Academy didn’t just address her academic challenges—they embraced her as a whole child. They nurtured her, supported her, and created a place where she finally felt like she belonged. It was in that safe, encouraging environment that she began to blossom.
Her self-esteem soared. Her confidence returned. Her attitude toward learning became joyful. Most significantly, her reading skills and overall academics improved more rapidly than we ever thought possible.
The growth we’ve witnessed since enrolling our daughter at Bright Academy has been nothing short of a miracle. After years of frustration and heartache, we now see a thriving, confident learner—and for that, we are deeply grateful.
When we count our blessings, Bright Academy and its devoted staff are at the top of our list.”
“Bright Academy has truly been a miracle for our family. When our son began second grade, he was unable to read and struggled socially. School was a source of frustration, and he found it difficult to make friends.
Now, just two years later, he is reading above grade level—and more importantly, he loves going to school. He has made several friends, and we’ve seen a remarkable transformation in his confidence and outlook. He now believes he can accomplish anything he sets his mind to.
The staff at Bright Academy is exceptional. Their dedication, expertise, and genuine care have made all the difference. We are deeply grateful for each and every one of them.
In our minds, there is no better place for our son to learn and grow than Bright Academy.”
Makenzie’s Story
After facing challenges in a traditional private school setting, Makenzie’s first-grade teacher, Gina Englund, recognized her potential and approached her parents with a unique opportunity—inviting Makenzie to be the very first student at a new school she was founding specifically for children with dyslexia. Grateful for this chance, her parents enrolled Makenzie at Bright Academy in the fall of 2013.
As a second grader, Makenzie began to flourish. With the support of Bright Academy, she gained confidence and developed a deeper understanding of her unique learning style. Over the years, the school helped her recognize her strengths, build vital academic skills, and adapt to different learning situations with resilience and grace.
Makenzie came to embrace her dyslexia, no longer viewing it as something to hide, but as a source of strength. She learned to navigate challenges, overcome obstacles, and developed a strong sense of self-worth. Most importantly, she discovered that how someone learns is just one part of who they are.
In May of 2024, Makenzie graduated from Liberty Online Academy and is now thriving as a freshman at Harding University. She continues to inspire others by encouraging them to focus on their strengths and celebrate what makes them unique. Her message is clear: “It’s not about what you don’t know—it’s about what you do. Focus on your strengths, and don’t be afraid to be different.”
